Ordered mine and got delivered the next day! The SpinRemote works fine and is very convenient in use. The only thing that doesnt respond very well is the swipe function so it usually takes me 3 swipes before i get it right. Perhaphs im doing it wrong though. So over all a great product and seriously thinking of replacing all my remotes all together. Keep up the good work!

Allthough my Matt black version is a delight to look at, it is not used as much as one would think when looking at the introduction videos. It simply is not where you need it when wondering around the house. It mostly sits at the dining table. It just lacks the ability to 'follow' you around, so you can turn the volume up/down while in the kitchen (no, sitting it on your countertop is just not done, whilst working with food)
It has multiple settings and turns to 'remember', but it seems difficult for the users to remember all those settings once you instructed the device. Resulting in less usage and grabbing once's smartphone that is 'always there'
Thus: Must have design, May want to have usability

I love the Spin Remote and its application. Everything works seamlessly, which is not often the case with brand new gadget like this. I use the Spin Remote to control my high-end audio system (volume, on/off) and the Philips Hue light in the room.

As remote controls go, I have, in my job installing ProAV, tried almost every one out there for myself and my clients. Touch panels, phones, voice and gesture controls, to basic button remotes. Finding the right button quickly has always been a chore, which means we still revert to the trusty remote that's included with your tech. The Spin remote SDC-1, although will not replace the need for a fully fledged controller in the drawer, fulfills a need with its simple elegant and button-less design and does what a user requires 80% of the time. A Volume knob, a Channel changer, A light dimmer and a Set top box controller. But it can do much more!
The packaging is stylish, instructions straight forward, and the iOS/Android app makes it a breeze to customize the SPIN to your preference. When I first picked it up, I thought it was a little light. From my experience, users associate weight with quality. A trick in the manufacture of remotes, is to place a lead weight in! The SPIN, however, when 2 AA cells are installed, weighs is just right.
At first I was a bit hesitant to splash out 99.99 Euros, having missed the KickStarter campaign, but after using it for a few month, I heartily recommend it. Money well spent! Proost!

BeoRemote One and
Beo4 remote control for example use an Infrared frequency of 455kHz for Bang & Olufsen products. This unfortunately means that a universal remote control, like SPIN remote, cannot learn from a B&O remote. However, there already is a
Feature Request by our
Community to include a Bang & Olufsen Infrared preset so you can use SPIN remote to control your B&O devices. When a feature request receives enough votes from our community, it will be officially reviewed by our development team. If approved, the feature will become part of the official roadmap for SPIN remote. We appreciate your honest feedback, it helps us to make the product even better!

Spin remote at its core is a beautiful, simplistic universal remote that is controlled by intuitive movements rather than buttons. It is perfect at controlling IR home audio/video equipment. Spin can also control a few home automation items like Phillips Hue and Lifx. This capability is what I'm most excited about. Spin says they are working to expand the current remotes capabilities with regular updates to its app. The Spin remote and the Android or iOS app connect via Bluetooth so the possibilities are endless. My SPIN remote is a good addition to my gadget collection and my guests are amazed because of that shiny object that can randomly light up in bright colors.
As for practicality: it is good for the most used functions on a remote. It is not a replacement. And it tends to be inaccurate: many spins needed for scrolling up or down, and sometimes it won't stop scrolling, even if you keep it still.
But I'm sure it will be better in the future. The update was very helpful.
And I still love it.

However, it never occurred to me when buying this that you would actually need your phone in range and the spinremote app running for it to work.
As a result, we have basically not used it.
You would think the IR features at least would work stand alone. I am often away on business, so my partner cannot use it. We have given up on it I'm afraid.

For example in August we introduced
Infrared standalone mode (
iOS App v0.8 and
Android App v0.9.6.6), which means that you can use Infrared commands and switch profiles without a Bluetooth connection to your smartphone or tablet. Cool, huh!
Furthermore, multiple users can now configure SPIN remote to their own personal likings using their own smartphone and SPIN App. When you're away, your partner's phone will simply push its configuration to SPIN remote and SPIN will now use that phone instead of yours to connect with smart devices.
We are continuously working on improving the product through software updates. Be sure to check out the latest

The Bluetooth Connection is not strong and too often it's required to reconnect with the spin via my phone. Wifi connection like the hue bridge is more secure.

De remote gebruik ik voornamelijk voor mijn Sonos en TV. En, voor beide zeer handig in gebruik.
Voor Sonos is nog wel een bluetooth verbinding met de telefoon nodig (de Spin-remote heeft geen WIFI).
In het begin was het nog wennen en zoeken, maar mede ook door de goede doorontwikkeling (nu al), neemt de gebruiksvriendelijkheid (in kleine verbeteringen, het werkt al top) toe. Nu is het niet alleen een gadget voor mij, maar vinden ook de minder technische gezinsleden het een verrekte handige afstandsbediening!

I can’t believe how simple it is to use this thing! It took me a few minutes to install the app and I seamlessly connected three of my devices. A few of my mates came over for drinks and each of them commented on my sexy new device. They all want one as each has between 4-6 remotes. For once I can actually see my coffee table instead of it being decorated by bulky remote controls. I still need to get the hang of it but so far so good. If i forget I simply check my mobile phone which has the settings. I must say, I like the look and feel, it is a smart design and a clever use of technology technology, that obviously makes me a very happy customer!!!!!

Ik heb er even op moeten wachten maar inmiddels een paar weken in bezit. Al snel na het uitpakken kon ik de afstandsbediening van mijn TV's en digitale ontvanger al in de la donderen, mijn SPIN Remote neemt dit feilloos over! Toen kwam het onderdeel waar ik het meest benieuwd naar was, mijn Philips Hue verlichting! En ook dit werkt prachtig. Het aan- en uitzetten van mijn verlichting, het dimmen en het veranderen van de kleuren, magisch met een draai of veeg over mijn nieuwste aanwinst en het is gefixt.
Het "eierdopje" zoals mijn pa het omschreef naar mijn ouderlijk huis meegenomen. Mijn ouwe is aan het Sonos virus verslaafd en ik benieuwd hoe het zou werken met mijn UFO zoals mijn moeder 'm omschreef. Op het antwoord heb ik geen 30 seconden hoeven wachten. Speakers selecteren, volume, nummers kiezen, pauze, play, noem het op, met wat soepele polsbewegingen in de lucht voor elkaar!
Het leuke is dat ik inmiddels ben verrast door een eerste update waardoor ik nu zonder Bleutoothconectie met mijn IPhone de SPIN kan gebruiken als (infrarood) afstandsbediening. Ook is de kleur "wit licht" toegevoegd is aan het spectrum waar je uit kan kiezen. Kortom, er komt vast nog meer aan waar deze nerd alleen maar blijer van word!

Het is een veelzijdig product, wat naast aansturing voor video- en audioapparatuur ook ondersteuning biedt voor Philips Hue en Sonos.
Feitelijk kan alle IR apparatuur aangestuurd worden. IR functies zijn eenvoudig aan te leren. Let wel even op dat er geen ondersteuning is voor het aanleren van RF signalen.
Doordat het apparaat geen fysieke toetsen heeft, blijft het design erg strak en modern. Zelf heb ik zendertoets 1 geprogrammeerd op het touch vlak. Zo kan ik na het zappen eenvoudig terug naar 1.
Onlangs is er een update uitgebracht waarmee ongewenste bewegingen genegeerd worden. Tevens kun je zelf de gevoeligheid van de bewegingen instellen. Deze update verhoogt het gebruiksgemak.
Deze updates laten zien dat het bedrijf achter de SPIN oplossingsgericht denkt en nog steeds bezig is het product verder te ontwikkelen. Dit is niet altijd vanzelfsprekend.
In de toekomst zal het bijvoorbeeld mogelijk zijn de SPIN als IR hub te gebruiken, waardoor je nog eenvoudiger je apparatuur kunt aansturen. Tevens komen er profielen voor bijvoorbeeld de Horizon RF remote.
Al met al is het product nu al zeer de moeite waard en het kan alleen maar beter worden!

De spin remote is een mooi tijdloze afstandsbediening. Ik was meteen verkocht toen ik hem tegen kwam op internet. De afstandsbediening staat altijd naast me op de leuning van de bank. Ik gebruik hem voor mijn media box, tv, soundbar, verlichting . Zelfs de box mobiel van me dochter die ook infrarood heeft kan ik aan en uit zetten en na de update ook me thermostaat. Het instellen gaat zeer makkelijk via de app. Alles wordt duidelijk aangegeven en ook is de spin remote eenvoudig te instaleren. Je kan meerdere profielen instellen met elk een andere kleur. De spin remote ligt lekker in de hand en heeft een mooie uitstraling. De touchpad die aan de onderkant zit is even wennen, maar je hebt het snel door hoe het werkt.
